Secure and Reliable VPN Solution with Robust Features

  • August 29, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate how OpenVPN Access Server offers a secure and customizable environment for VPN management. It’s user-friendly and makes it easy to handle remote connections. Plus, it’s versatile—there are plenty of configuration options, and it works well across different platforms, which is great for adapting to various organizational needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it’s a powerful tool, some of the more advanced configuration options can be pretty complex and might overwhelm users who aren’t as experienced. The cost can also add up, especially if you need a lot of concurrent connections for a large deployment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OpenVPN Access Server is helping us secure our internal resources by providing encrypted remote access, especially for our remote workforce. It ensures that our sensitive data is protected while allowing seamless access to our internal network. This has significantly reduced the risk of data breaches and improved our overall security posture

Easy turn-key VPN solution for SMBs

  • August 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
* Secure solution that is tested and used world-wide.
* Very easy to use, manage, and update.
* Simple integration with SAML/OAuth, or you can run with local users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing comes to mind, except I had to roll my own SSL cert renewal solution, but that wasn't too hard, and is well documented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Other products run tens of thousands per year. OpenVPN AS costs a few bucks a month, based on max users actively using it that month.

What do you like best about the product?
We've been using OpenVPN connect for nearly 2 years to allow our DevOps team conneciton into AWS resource.

It was quick to push out to our user base with InTune and easy to setup SAML to use Entra 365 MFA authentication. Solid and simple UI with easy to access connection logs.

Having contacted support twice I was connected with the right folk immediately, no messing around with first line - straight to the devs!
What do you dislike about the product?
Users with slightly flakey wifi connections can get annoyed with having to re-authenticate using their MFA device.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provides secure MFA protected access to our AWS environments.

    Higher Education

OpenVPN for a small college

  • August 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the easiest VPN products to set-up and use for our school. We tried a few before settling for OpenVPN. Even our senior non-tech teachers did not have problems installing the client on their machines.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost isn't the lowest around. But we traded cost for ease of use. Its no use paying for something super cheap but having to hire a consultant to implement it.

Our internal support team was able to set this up and deploy easily by reading the instructions thoroughly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our school subscribed to OpenVPN to provide a private and secured way to access our older intranet-based software during the pandemic. Since it worked very well during the pandemic and people already know how to use it, we thought it was best to leave it as it is to provide an extra layer of security even if the people who need to access our legacy software is on premise anyway.

What do you like best about the product?
Security ,Cost-Effectiveness ,Ease of Use &Compliance
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as of now. It does give trouble connecting though which is temperorary
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a SaaS Global Company & we wanted to use a VPN connection for our employees internally. We did evaluate couple of tools in the space mainly Cisco & Open VPN. Costs and maintainance of OpenVPN is far lower than cisco. It has all the features that an ISO aduit would require. Trust worthy tool & support is excellent

My favourite VPN solution!

  • August 14, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favourite thing about OpenVPN is how simple and quick it is to get started, plus the integrations it offers out of the box for the with such an easy setup is fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is that the server can't run on Windows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem we had was using an older out of date VPN method which didn't support modern authentication and had very little features. Now with OpenVPN we have Azure authentication with MFA enforcement, tighter security rules and NAT capabilities.
